QED theory of the nuclear recoil effect in atoms
نویسنده
چکیده
The quantum electrodynamic theory of the nuclear recoil effect in atoms to all orders in αZ is formulated. The nuclear recoil corrections for atoms with one and two electrons over closed shells are considered in detail. The problem of the composite nuclear structure in the theory of the nuclear recoil effect is discussed.

Lamb Shift in Muonic Hydrogen
The Lamb shift in muonic hydrogen continues to be a subject of experimental and theoretical investigation. Here my older work on the subject is updated to provide a complementary calculation of the energies of the 2p-2s transitions in muonic hydrogen. Introduction The energy levels of muonic atoms are very sensitive to effects of quantum electrodynamics (QED), nuclear structure, and recoil, sin...
متن کاملPrecision physics of simple atoms: QED tests, nuclear structure and fundamental constants
Quantum electrodynamics is the first successful and still the most successful quantum field theory. Simple atoms, being essentially QED systems, allow highly accurate theoretical predictions. Because of their simple spectra, such atoms have been also efficiently studied experimentally frequently offering the most precisely measured quantities. Our review is devoted to comparison of theory and e...
متن کاملRecoil correction to the ground state energy of hydrogenlike atoms
The recoil correction to the ground state energy of hydrogenlike atoms is calculated to all orders in αZ in the range Z = 1–110. The nuclear size corrections to the recoil effect are partially taken into account. In the case of hydrogen, the relativistic recoil correction beyond the Salpeter contribution and the nonrelativistic nuclear size correction to the recoil effect, amounts to –7.2(2) kH...
متن کاملNuclear Corrections to Hyperfine Structure in Light Hydrogenic Atoms
Hyperfine intervals in light hydrogenic atoms and ions are among the most accurately measured quantities in physics. The theory of QED corrections has recently advanced to the point that uncalculated terms for hydrogenic atoms and ions are probably smaller than 0.1 parts per million (ppm), and the experiments are even more accurate. The difference of the experiments and QED theory is interprete...
متن کاملA DFT study of NMR parameters for MgO nanotubes
Magnesium oxide nanotubes of finite length are investigated by the Density Functional Theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G (d) level. The (6, 0) zigzag and (4, 4) armchair of MgO nanotubes were considered and nuclear magnetic resonance properties including isotropic and anisotropic chemical shielding parameters (CSI and CSA) were calculated for 25Mg and 17O atoms of the optimiz...
